Annotation:		The purpose of the article is to determine the place of interlinguistics and constructive linguistics within the system of linguistic branches. The author discusses the evolution of interlinguistics, its alternative denominations and their motivation, rejects the opinion that interlinguistics can be regarded as a subdivision of applied linguistics.
